Server Equipment Recycling
Recycling Your I.T. is fully licensed by the Environment Agency (EA) for the disposal and refurbishment of server equipment. We are fully insured to work both on and off site. We are also registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for data protection.
Often server equipment contains various storage devices, Recycling Your IT can securely erase or destroy that data, before remarketing or recycling the equipment. If there is still value in the asset, then through our Profit Sharing scheme we can sometimes offer clients a rebate when the item has been remarketed.
Under the WEEE directive, all electronic and electrical equipment has to be disposed of in a proper and legal manner. It must not go to landfill and failure to follow this directive can result in heavy fines and or imprisonment.
We have a fleet of vehicles enabling us to collect all sizes and quantities of equipment. We can even decommission these onsite if you wish. Our staff will supply you onsite with a Waste Transfer note and if applicable a Hazardous Waste Consignment note. These completely cover your obligations under the WEEE Directive and will satisfy any Environment Agency audit. Everything we collect we reuse or recycle, absolutely nothing goes to landfill or ends upon foreign shores.
When your equipment arrives at our facility, it is first sorted by our qualified technicians to see if there is anything that can be reused. It is far better for the environment to reuse an item than recycle. We have qualified engineers that securely erase or destroy storage devices and refurbish end of life equipment. Everything else is broken down into its raw materials and sorted. Those sorted materials are then sent to the specialist refiners. If you have asked us to do so we will either wipe of destroy any data held on your servers and supply you with a Certificate of Destruction.
