As one of the UK’s leading computer and IT recycling companies, we are acutely aware that as a country our businesses are relying more on more on new technologies, elegant looking electronic devices that can do just about anything from printing invoices to slimline notebooks, to iPhones and Blackberries, the list is endless. What we don’t think about so much is what to do with these devices once they are end of life or replaced with even newer gadgets and technology. This is where computer and IT recycling companies like ours come in.

Many businesses will chuck all their old IT kit in a storeroom somewhere, or even worse, in a skip. Not only do a lot of these devices contain potentially hazardous components inside many of them can be recycled or re-used in some way. There are still far too many Companies that do not currently use a recycling company such as ourselves for fear of it being too expensive or time consuming.

The reality is that disposing of your old computers and IT equipment is not only easy to do, but it is the responsibility of each and every business to try and reduce the amount of landfill they produce.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) estimate that anywhere between 20 and 50 million tonnes of electrical goods were simply being chucked away.  Much of this waste could be re-used in someway, not only cutting down on the amount of overall waste produced, but also lessening the drain on our natural resources.

It really is up to each and every business to ensure that they are disposing of their IT equipment in a way that optimises the re-use of equipment, reduces overall waste and helps reduce their carbon footprint. Make sure that you use a licensed company such as ourselves to make sure your waste is handled in the best way possible for your company’s peace of mind.
